Wow, two is a busy age!
It was a challenge but a pleasure to shoot Logan. He was a little shy at first, but then he warmed up & was excited to show me his toys & share with little John, who tagged along for this shoot.
There were a couple challenges with this photoshoot, apart from shooting a 2-year-old. Logan’s home had limited light, which was mostly quite flat…flat light is easy to shoot (no harsh shadows or glare), but by nature it isn’t very interesting. The flat light made it difficult t0 separate Logan’s skin from the walls, as they had a similar tone & brightness. It was also difficult to find clean space behind Logan…by that I don’t mean that the home was messy, but rather that between photos on the wall, furniture, a Christmas tree, etc, it was difficult to place Logan in a spot in the frame where his head wasn’t being intersected by something. A final challenge was with my gear. With my prime lens, the aperture was fast enough that low light wasn’t a problem. Instead, my camera struggled with capturing RAW files as quickly as I wanted to release the shutter. I missed a couple moments I wish I had captured.
Considering the challenges & the fact that this was my first in-home lifestyle-type shoot not in my own home, I am pretty pleased with the results.
P.S. Do you like photo 13 better in color or black & white?
